BLANKETS OF HOPE

TeamBuilding Unlimited offers several different charity challenges. One of our favorite is Blankets of Hope. In this Philanthropic Team Building activity, teams work together to create warm and cozy Blankets of Hope. 

Teams are given multi-patterned and solid fleece panels that they combine to make no-sew Blankets of Hope. Teams work together to cut and knot these blankets. There are many different ways to assemble and finish these great fleece blankets, so there is ample room for creativity, as well as practicality. Team members choose from a variety of patterns and styles of fleece, as well as finishing techniques. Working in teams of 2-3, these no-sew blankets are fun to make.

Once the blankets are completed, they will be donated to local organizations: Shelters, Police, Fire, Disaster, Hospitals or another charity. This Charity Challenge is fun and altruistic. It benefits your team and the children who receive the Blankets of Hope. It's a Win-Win event for your group.

Recently TeamBuilding Unlimited worked with a Silicon Valley group that assembled and donated 65+ blankets to the Family Giving Tree. The Family Giving Tree in turn donated them to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital for the pediatric and oncology patients. It was a win-win event for all involved. TeamBuilding Unlimited was proud to play a part. 

Rocking Horses for Ronald McDonald House

Last week TeamBuilding Unlimited led a leadership group from one of the premiere retailers in children's furnishings and accessories in a terrific Charity Challenge: Rocking Horses for Tots. The company doesn't offer rocking horses, but after this team building event, I wouldn't be surprised to see them turn up in a future catalog and stores.

The group did an absolutely amazing job of assembling and painting/decorating the wooden rocking horses. Each team spent time brainstorming their designs before implementing them. Each Rocking horse was beautiful and creative!

The Rocking Horses were donated to the San Francisco Ronald McDonald House. This charitable event had a huge impact on the company that assembled and painted them, as well as the children who received them.  It was a Win-Win experience!

Here's what Shannon, Development Coordinator,  Ronald McDonald House said:

The horses were gone within ONE day. We were planning to keep two of them at the House but the kids were having so much fun. They had the biggest smiles when Ron said they could have them as their own. What a wonderful gift. The horses are a perfect project for the House since we always have children in that age range. I’m happy I was able to be a part of it.

TEAMBUILDING-UNLIMITED leads you in an amazing philanthropic team event: Operation Backpack: Backpacks for Kids because every child deserves to start the school year off right!

Teams create, decorate and fill backpacks with school supplies. These "stuffed' backpacks will be donated to school groups, specific charities, or children's centers.

Utilizing team building skills such as communication, collaboration, planning, resource allocation, and creativity, your teams will excel at this philanthropic event!

Working together each team becomes part of an even bigger team that makes a difference by providing essential school supplies for children who really need them. 

This teambuilding event begins with a combination of different types of competitive Children's Games. Teams earn points to choose essential school supplies to fill the backpacks. Besides teambuilding skills, a lot of team bonding goes on during this meaningful and fun charity challenge, as your employees relive their early school years through playing "children's" games and filling the backpacks!

Trikes for Tots VaST Systems

Murder on the Menu/TeamBuilding Unlimited has worked with VaST Systems, one of our favorite clients, at their January Leadership meeting for the past three years. One year we did a Murder on the Menu mystery event, the next year, our team presented Hollywood: Casting Call. Both were very interactive and an overwhelming success. This year, given the current economic situation, VaST decided to work with Murder on the Menu/Team Building Unlimited on a Trikes for Tots event, an event that gives back to the community.
Held at the new Intercontinental Hotel, the Clement, in Monterey, the evening opened with a talk by a representative from The Kinship Center, an organization dedicated to the creation, preservation and support of foster, adoptive and relative families for children who need them. VaST participants began the teambuilding portion of the event with a series of competitive Wacky children's games led by Frank Price, VP of TeamBuilding Unlimited. Did I say competitive? Not all groups opt for competition, but this great international executive team got into the spirit quickly and completely. Not only did they approach each Wacky Game with high spirits, they challenged scores and judging. After a buffet dinner, the group moved on to the Charity Challenge: Trikes for Tots, assembling tricycles for the children The Kinship Center serves in Northern California. 11 Trikes were built and donated.

The evening ended with a new sense of camaraderie. Here's what Leslie Foster wrote:
"You did a great job, as always, and everyone had a good time. Nancy from the Kinship Organization presented very nicely how meaningful our trikes will be to the children. Wishing you the same hopes for a positive 2009 , and we look forward to getting creative with you and Janet and planning another event."

Murder on the Menu/Team Building Unlimited will need to come up with something to top this event! I think we'll be able to do it. We love working with repeat clients!
